Wind and tempest
Rain and flood
The chimney falls
With a thud
After the lightning
storm
And booming thunder
Uprooted trees
Roofs torn asunder
But in the calm
As we convalesce
In the aftermath
There is a cleanness
Daylight was declining
As twilight loomed
As behind the horizon
The sun was consumed
The red sunset is for lovers
Who sigh with lovesick
bliss
And in the glow of a
blood red sky
The lovers stand and
kiss
Stung by hail and rain
And colds numbing bite
And cut through like a
knife
By the east-wind’s
spite
Beneath the leafy canopy
Moonlight pierced the
darkness
And shafts of lunar
light
Like a brilliant laser
show
Illuminated the forest
floor
The savage natural scene
In the winter meadow
Where the Falcon feeds
His talons red in the
snow
The wind whistles
The frozen rain bites
And the chill runs
deep
And we must escape
To shelter safe inside
Where the barn owls
sleep
The Heathers on the hillside
And Buttercups in the
meadow
The Bluebells in the
woods
And Orchids in the
hedgerow
What a green and pleasant
land
Where the wild flowers
grow
The Heathers cloak the hillside
And Buttercups dot the
meadow
The Bluebells carpet
the woods
And Orchids pepper the
hedgerow
In an understatement
of radiance
Where the wild flowers
grow

The wind in the trees
Sang a sad song
A plaintive sound
Like a crying child
And as it blew through
The crying leaves
On the rainy morn
Shed tears that fell
To the forest floor
The Mission bells
Blooming herb
Of the north western
states
With green-and-purple
Bell-shaped flowers
Gales are driving waves
Against the resilient
shore,
And pounding
Them on to the rocks,
While on the edge of
the wind
There is distant
thunder sounding
In the forest,
The skeletal trees
Herald winters
imminent approach
But for now
The autumn lingers
But the fruiting
brambles bushes
Will soon feel winters
icy fingers
On the leaf carpeted
floor
Life continues
And the forest
creatures
Go about their work
For today it is still
autumn
And tomorrow is
another day
Through the misty dawning
Of a crisp autumn
morning
Like emerging from a
dream
Amidst the haunting
scene
I spy Pheasants in the
frost
And in the moment, I
am lost
Under autumnal skies
The suns strength diminishes
With each passing day
And foliage turns slowly
From green to gold
To red, to brown
Before fluttering to earth
Where autumn breezes
Make them dance
To the seasons song
But dancing turns to fury
When breeze turns to raging storm
And autumn windfalls
Are sent swirling
As if caught
In a frenetic snow globe
Though the lucky ones
Escape the chaos
Being driven on the wind
Into quiet corners
Or beneath hedgerows
The rest whirl like dervishes
Hither and thither
Until the rains
Turn them to mush under foot
In the autumn meadow
Everywhere was wet
with Dew
And highlighted in the
tall grasses
Were a myriad of lustrous webs
waiting to reward their architects
For their industry and
patience
Beneath the dusky grey sky
Of low scudding
clouds,
The ambient air was
damp
Blown in from the west
On the same storm fed
wind
That chased the clouds
Across the autumn sky
In the dewy autumn meadow
I watch the dawn’s
first rays
Beginning to evaporate
the mist
In the majesty of
Autumn days
When we were kids in the autumn
My brother would hide
from view
Beneath a pile of
fresh fallen leaves
When winters bite is tamed
Spring brings forth
the shoots
Then summer scents the
flowers
And the autumn earns
the fruits
It was late autumn,
The season was dying
When she sat at his
bedside
Holding his hand
And quietly crying
As she spent that long
last hour
Saying her final
goodbye
When we were young
We began wandering
aimlessly
Through leafy
woodland.
We began when there
were only
The early buds of
spring
Wandering on through
The dappled shade of
summer
And its comforting
warmth
Onward then to the
fall
With its crimson hues
Now we embark beyond
The crunch of autumns
leaves
Into the cold metaphor
Of winters landscape
We still have each
other
But we also have
uncertainty
How much winter will
we see?
Although the sun
Shone high
In the dying
Summer sky
The east wind,
Strong and shrill
Carried in an
Early autumn chill
In the dew fresh meadow
I watch the dawn’s
first rays
Appear to evaporate
the mist
In the majesty of
Autumn days
On the cusp of spring and summer
Hawthorn hedgerows
bloom
And produce their
fruity haws
The mist cascaded down the hillside Like a maiden’s hair Tumbling onto her shoulders The bare branches of the birch trees Pierced ...
